Artist Trading Cards
Miniature Masterpieces, Global Community & Bite-Sized Creativity
Welcome to the Czech Studios ATC Portal. Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) are original, miniature works of art measuring standard playing card dimensions: 2.5 × 3.5 inches.
Created to be traded rather than sold, ATCs provide an accessible, low-pressure gateway into making art. Across the globe, artists of every background and skill level swap these tiny treasures through the mail, building community, sharing visual stories, and exchanging original art without commercial pressure.
What Makes ATCs Special?
-
Radical Accessibility: Working on a 2.5 x 3.5 inch surface eliminates the intimidation of a large, blank canvas. Anyone can complete a card in a single sitting.
-
Pure Creative Freedom: Paint, sketch, collage, stitch, or sculpt. ATCs embrace mixed-media experimentation with zero rules on technique.
-
Original, One-of-a-Kind Art: Every card is an authentic miniature original signed and dated on the back, carrying a personal piece of an artist's journey.
-
Global Community & Connection: Trading cards through swaps connects creators across continents, fostering genuine appreciation and mutual inspiration.
Why I Create & Share ATCs
I fell in love with Artist Trading Cards because they revolutionized my creative practice. As an educator and artist, I found the format to be the ultimate antidote to perfectionism and creative burnout.
Mounting six blank cards to a small clipboard creates an instant, portable studio. Whether I have ten minutes between tasks or an hour in the evening, I can test color combinations, try out handcrafted watercolor pigments, and explore new textures without worrying about perfection. They are bite-sized exercises in creative presence.
