Developing My Spiritual Guiding Principles for Energetic Flow

Watercolor painting of a flower of life touched by two seeds of life on either side, using colors to create a rainbow. The right half glows under UV light.
This painting was an exploration in the watercolor paints that I create myself. It is a reflection of two years worth of work to develop these color wheels in homemade paint.

Uncovering My Energetic Core

Discovering myself in my thirties has not been an easy task. It has been a process of uncovering—a slow, deliberate stripping away of the layers of expectations I wore as a shield to protect myself. Understanding my spirituality has been one of the most difficult processes. I turned away from religion in my early twenties and I struggled with accepting my own path of discovery because it meant removing the shields I wore, at the very least, to myself for inner reflection. For a long time I could not face myself.

I have realized that healing is not about building a better shield; it is about discovering the Energetic Core that has always existed beneath it. We are energy in physical form. Our bodies, our thoughts, our actions are all energy and within us all, lies the Energetic Core. The flow of energy through the chakras, chi, all reference this idea of the flow of energy through our bodies.

I have only just begun my path forward into this realm of energy flow. It is a process of learning to be an active participant in my own life and in the universe around me. I have written these spiritual guiding principles not as rigid laws, but as a description of how energy moves when it is finally free to flow.

I share this guide with you—other pattern-seekers and healers—in the hope that it helps you recognize your own power, manage the "static" of the world, and move from a state of survival into a state of vibrant, creative flow.

My Spiritual Guiding Principles of Energetic Flow

I. Internal Alignment: The Source

  • Energy in Movement: My actions, my thoughts, my intentions are energy in movement through my physical, energetic body.

  • The Power of the Goddess: My energy is powerful. I am a goddess with powers of creation and destruction, capable of intelligence, insight, pattern recognition, and the ability to manipulate those patterns. I respect the power I hold as a responsibility.

  • The Ritual of Realignment: I take time to assess my energetic state and work towards realigning my energy to flow more freely and with regards to myself and the energies around me.

II. The Radiance: Maintaining the Frequency

  • Sustaining the Self: It is my responsibility to sustain, nurture, and grow my energy as an energy within the universe, so that I may participate in the free exchange of energy more fully with a continuously healing mind, body, and spirit.

  • The Alchemy of Calm: I extend my calm outward gently to help ease other's energies who are open to it. I master my own energy first so that I am not affected by the static of others, moving from survival mode into a radiant broadcast of ease.

  • The Ethics of Action: I am not blind to the effects of my actions and thus, must act in accordance with my personal ethics in each situation I enter into.

III. The Exchange: Collaborative Flow

  • Vulnerable Love: When I appreciate someone’s energy, when I accept energy from someone, I speak that energy into existence and thank them, acknowledging what their energy means to me with vulnerable love and authenticity in my heart and words.

  • Shared Responsibility: My responsibility and power grow as I align my energy with others in collaboration. My energy and actions are my responsibility and the consequences of actions taken belong to all involved.

  • Necessary Destruction: The destruction of energies, or break down of energies, is sometimes necessary in order to heal the flow of energy in a greater state.

IV. The Expansion: Universal Connection

  • The Anathema of Isolation: Energy is meant to be exchanged, to flow freely and therefore it is anathema to isolate and allow my energy to dwindle.

  • The Duty of the Seeker: It is my responsibility to share my pattern recognition with other pattern seekers and collaborate to work towards the continual ebb and flow of energies through our bodies, our environment, our societies, and throughout the universe.

I created this artist trading card to reflect on healing from mental health injuries, to live a more balanced and calm life.

A Living Practice

I recognize that I am a work in progress, and so is this guide. I am continually revising these guiding principles for myself so they fit my life, my perspective, and my ethical alignment as I grow. This is not a destination, but a practice of constant realignment—a commitment to ensuring my spirit remains as fluid and vibrant as the art I create and the life I choose to live.

I invite you to take anything from these principles that feels aligned with your personal energy and change it to suite your needs. Please feel free to share what resonates with you in the comments, or what will you add to your own guide?
